Comedian and actress Amy Schumer has revealed that online comments about her facial appearance led to her diagnosis of Cushing syndrome. Initially dismissing the criticism, Schumer began to take the remarks seriously after doctors also commented on her appearance online. Cushing syndrome, caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of cortisol due to steroid use, has symptoms including weight gain and facial swelling. Schumer linked her condition to steroid injections for scars from her breast reduction and C-section. Though initially upset, she learned about her condition just before filming her Netflix comedy "Kinda Pregnant." Schumer credited a supportive friend with helping boost her confidence, despite her worries about appearing on camera.
