Auckland FC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Melbourne City FC 3-0 at Go Media Stadium, effectively ending City's unbeaten run. The Black Knights established a decisive lead by halftime, with goals from strikers Guillermo May and Max Mata, and defender Nando Pijnaker.
The match began with a strong offensive display from Auckland. In the 20th minute, May opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed strike from 20 meters, sending the ball into the top corner beyond City's goalkeeper, Patrick Beach.
