A significant landslide occurred near Patalganga between Pipalkoti and Joshimath in Uttarakhand, leading to the closure of the Badrinath National Highway. The incident took place around 11:15 am, when a large section of the hill collapsed, depositing substantial debris over the mouth of a tunnel along the highway and damaging it.
Eyewitnesses reported that the landslide generated a massive cloud of dust and debris, causing the entire Alaknanda and Patal Ganga valley to tremble momentarily. Despite the scale of the event, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. Authorities have urged travelers to exercise patience as efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore traffic flow.
