Miles Harford, the former owner of Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services in Littleton, Colorado, is confronting new felony charges. Initially arrested in February 2024 for storing a deceased woman's body in a hearse for over a year and for theft, Harford was released on bond. He now faces additional allegations of hacking into a former employer's account to pay a Verizon bill.
Authorities discovered the body of a 63-year-old woman in the hearse and other remains in a rented home after his eviction. The remains in the hearse belonged to a woman who died in August 2022, and other remains found date back to 2012-2021. Harford's business, which closed in September 2022, faced financial issues, leading him to provide families with incorrect cremated remains.
The investigation has raised concerns about the practices of funeral directors and the need for stricter regulations in the industry. Authorities are working to ensure that such incidents do not recur and that families receive the respectful and dignified services they deserve.
Harford's case highlights the critical importance of oversight in the funeral services sector to prevent abuse and ensure the proper handling of the deceased. The community remains vigilant as the legal proceedings continue.
