Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United Share Spoils in Goalless Stalemate

January 18, 2025

In a resilient display, Kerala Blasters FC secured a 0-0 draw against NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi during the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season. Despite being reduced to ten men in the 30th minute following Aibanbha Dohling's red card for violent conduct, the Blasters' defense held firm to deny the visitors any scoring opportunities.

Early in the match, NorthEast United's Jithin MS nearly opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but his attempt from a corner sailed over the crossbar. Kerala Blasters responded with a long-range effort from Noah Sadaoui three minutes later, which also missed the target.

The turning point came when Dohling was sent off, leaving the home side with a numerical disadvantage. Capitalizing on this, NorthEast United intensified their attacks. Just before halftime, Alaaeddine Ajaraie tested goalkeeper Sachin Suresh with a powerful shot, but Suresh was equal to the task.

In the second half, Sadaoui continued to threaten, forcing a save from Gurmeet Singh. NorthEast United's Guillermo Fernández and Buanthanglun Samte combined well in the 56th minute, but Samte's shot failed to find the net.

As the match progressed, NorthEast United sought a breakthrough, with Ajaraie and Fernández both coming close. However, the disciplined Kerala Blasters defense ensured the match ended in a stalemate.

Kerala Blasters' Milos Drincic was instrumental in defense, completing 29 of 35 passes and making nine clearances.

Up next, Kerala Blasters FC will face East Bengal FC on January 24, while NorthEast United FC is set to play against Hyderabad FC on January 29.

Brief Scores:

Kerala Blasters FC 0 - 0 NorthEast United FC
