Indian fast bowler Shikha Pandey has signed with the Canterbury Magicians for the ongoing Women's Super Smash 2024-25 season in New Zealand. This move makes her the first Indian cricketer to participate in the Women's Super Smash. The tournament began on December 26, 2024, and will conclude on February 2, 2025.
Pandey, 35, recently played for Brisbane Heat in the Women's Big Bash League, taking 12 wickets in 12 matches with an economy rate under seven. She also featured for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Women's Caribbean Premier League earlier this year. Her international experience includes 62 T20Is, where she has claimed 43 wickets at an economy rate of 6.49, and 55 ODIs with 75 wickets.
The Canterbury Magicians, led by captain Laura Hughes, commenced their Super Smash campaign against the Otago Sparks on December 27, 2024, in Alexandra. Australian cricketer Madeline Penna also joins Pandey as an overseas player in the Magicians' squad this season.
