At the 2025 Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, Alicia Keys was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. During her acceptance speech, she emphasized the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the music industry, stating, "DEI is not a threat, it's a gift." She highlighted the value of diverse voices and the strength they bring to the industry, calling for continued empathy, compassion, and the opening of doors for more voices.
In addition to the award, Keys celebrated her Broadway musical, "Hell's Kitchen," which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. The musical, inspired by her own life, features both new compositions and some of her most beloved songs. It premiered at The Public Theater in New York City in November 2023 and transferred to the Shubert Theatre on Broadway in March 2024.
The Grammy Awards ceremony also featured notable performances and moments. Beyoncé won Album of the Year for "Cowboy Carter," her first country album, making her the first Black woman to win this award in 26 years. Kendrick Lamar won Song and Record of the Year for "Not Like Us." The event included performances by Shakira, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, and others. A tribute to the late Quincy Jones was presented by Will Smith, Stevie Wonder, and Janelle Monáe. The event raised $7 million for wildfire relief efforts, with firefighter tributes throughout the night. The show was hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year.
