This victory makes her the first Black woman to receive this honor in the 21st century. The ceremony also celebrated Kendrick Lamar's success, as he secured both Song and Record of the Year for "Not Like Us." Additionally, Chappell Roan was honored as Best New Artist, using her platform to advocate for better treatment of artists within the music industry.
Hosted by Trevor Noah, the event featured performances by Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and Janelle Monáe. A poignant tribute to the late Quincy Jones included renditions by Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock. The ceremony also highlighted Los Angeles' resilience following recent wildfires, raising over $7 million for relief efforts.
