At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars clinched the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for their collaboration, "Die With a Smile." The track outshone nominees such as Ariana Grande with Brandy and Monica, Beyoncé and Post Malone, Charli XCX & Billie Eilish, and Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift. During their acceptance speech, Bruno Mars expressed his honor in collaborating with Lady Gaga and attributed their success to a divine gift. Lady Gaga praised Bruno Mars' musical talent and addressed the importance of visibility and support for the transgender and queer communities.
Earlier in the evening, the duo delivered a heartfelt performance of "California Dreamin'," paying tribute to the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. Additionally, Lady Gaga unveiled her new single, "Abracadabra," during the ceremony. The accompanying music video, directed by Parris Goebel, Bethany Vargas, and Gaga herself, features vibrant choreography and aesthetics reminiscent of her earlier work, particularly from "The Fame Monster" era.
On the red carpet, Lady Gaga captivated onlookers with a gothic glam ensemble by designer Samuel Lewis, complemented by a unique archival necklace from Tiffany & Co. dating back to the 1930s. This marks her history with the brand, having previously worn the famous yellow Tiffany diamond to the 2019 Oscars. Her accessories included gold and platinum earrings and a Jean Schlumberger ring featuring diamonds and tsavorites. Fans are also excited as she announced her seventh studio album, "Mayhem," set to release on March 7, 2025.
In her acceptance speech, Lady Gaga emphasized the importance of visibility and support for the transgender and queer communities, stating, "trans people are not invisible." This statement responds to recent anti-trans executive orders from the Trump administration. Similarly, Best New Artist winner Chappell Roan acknowledged the trans community's significance and called for industry reforms, such as fair wages and healthcare for artists.
The 2025 Grammy Awards not only celebrated musical achievements but also highlighted the industry's commitment to diversity and social justice. The event raised $7 million for wildfire relief efforts, with firefighter tributes throughout the night. Hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year, the ceremony featured performances by Shakira, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, and others.
