Her death was attributed to influenza-induced pneumonia, which she contracted during a family trip to Japan. Her sister, Dee Hsu, confirmed the news, expressing profound sorrow and gratitude for their time together.
Born on October 6, 1976, in Taipei, Taiwan, Barbie Hsu began her entertainment career at 17 as part of the pop duo S.O.S with her sister. The duo gained popularity as television hosts before Barbie's breakout role in "Meteor Garden," which catapulted her to fame across East Asia. She continued to build her acting career with notable roles in "Corner with Love" and "Summer's Desire."
In 2022, Barbie retired from the entertainment industry following her divorce from Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei. She later remarried South Korean singer and DJ Koo Jun-yup. She is survived by her husband and two children.
